National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Tennessee

Travellers Rest provides a gateway to Nashville's history for over 10,000 children each year. Field trip and camp programs include "hands on" on activities such as writing with a quill pen, playing with 19th c. style toys and games, experiencing a one-room school, drilling like Civil War soldiers, and dancing the Virginia Reel. An annual Trades Days event brings historic craftsmen, including a blacksmith, basket weaver, spinner, gunsmith and others, to the property. Nashville Dame volunteers enjoy assisting the Travellers Rest staff at both the Trades Days and the Plantation Holidays programs.
